Today’s UK government daily briefing is led by Transport Secretary Grant Shapps amid reports the UK will start quarantining travellers. The UK government plans to bring in a 14-day quarantine for arrivals from anywhere except the Republic of Ireland, airlines say. The policy is expected to come into force at the end of May and require self-isolation at a private residence.

They are joined by deputy chief medical officer Prof Jonathan Van-Tam.
